It’s week 1. In resolving to Join God, you’re saying yes to living in a new manner that liberates you from striving and trying harder to live the life of a disciple of Christ.
God transforms our lives the same way God saves our lives—through total and complete dependence on Him. So, that’s what this first week is all about.
You have to adopt a posture of humility and dependence on God if you’re going to get anywhere over the next few months. No more spiritual to-do lists. No more striving to earn God’s favor. No more performing for the admiration of others.
These next few months you’ll learn to rest in what Jesus has already accomplished for you and let your spiritual practices be places where God proves His love for you, instead of you trying to prove your love for Him.
So, here’s your assignment for this week. Journal your responses to the following questions. Keep them handy to refer back to in the weeks ahead.
If you’re rolling your eyes and thinking ugh, this is pointless, trust me, I’ve been there. The Enemy will tempt us with pride any chance he can get!
Humility is not a gift from God that we wait to fall in our lap. It’s a choice to make, and it’s the most crucial decision you can make every day. So, just take it one day at a time, and start today by answering those four questions.
Until next week,
Karl
